Orbital Mechanics

[ EP | 4 tracks | 2021]

[Leer en castellano]

Orbital Mechanics is an EP work consisting of four noisy ambient cuts strongly defined by its introspective character conceived for an active listening.

Halfway between melodic sequences reminiscent of Caterina Barbieri, Nils Frahm or Hélène Vogelsinger and heavy saturated bass lines that could evoke Ben Frost or Oliver Coates, the tracks on Orbital Mechanics use few resources pushed to the limit.

A work in which the analogue sound takes center stage and the stereo experience plays a fundamental role in the listener's journey.

A good example of this approach is the cinematographic "Poles in Dialogue". Recorded in a single take, only two elements interact in this piece for cello & synthesizer. The oscilating movement of the filter and circular panning conduct the expression of the analog synth arpeggios, and the progressive dirty distorsion does so with the cello. The only extra layer is the wide cathedral reverb which brings depth & greatness to the arpeggios. Less was more in the recording of this piece.

The closing, Beojkkoch is a song where the mesmerizing asian-aired melody alternates with a delicate recitation of Kim Chun Soo's classic poem "The Flower". Leading the listener through an almost oneiric journey, "Beojkkoch" is a clear sample of the introspective character of this EP, openly conceived for a focused listening experience.
